El estratega del Club Tijuana resaltó el esfuerzo de los
Xoloitzcuintles en el triunfo vs Atlante FC

Cancún, Quintana Roo._ El DT Óscar Pareja destacó
el carácter y el futbol que mostraron los Xoloitzcuintles en el valioso
triunfo ante el Atlante FC, al jugar la mayor parte del encuentro con un
hombre menos en la cancha en el cotejo de la quinta jornada de la COPA
MX-CLAUSURA 2019, en la que se mantienen en la lucha por clasificar a la
Liguilla del certamen tras ganar este miércoles.

“Los jugadores demostraron para lo que están, como grupo superaron una
situación adversa por la expulsión en los primeros 30 minutos,
resolvieron los problemas en la cancha con mucho carácter y futbol por
ello merecieron ganar este partido”, comentó el entrenador sudamericano
en la conferencia posterior al partido.

“Ha sido un esfuerzo increíble, seguimos vivos en la Copa, es un paso
más y los jugadores merecen todo el crédito”, agregó.

De igual forma, Pareja destacó el trabajo de los juveniles del Club
Tijuana en el partido, en especial sobre el debut en el arco de Carlos
Higuera.

“Los jugadores jóvenes hicieron un gran desempeño esta noche, mostraron
una gran personalidad y es parte de nuestro trabajo al darles confianza
para que sigan creciendo su nivel”, concluyó Óscar.

Ahora los Xoloitzcuintles de enfocarán en el regreso a la acción en la
LIGA MX-CLAUSURA 2019, en la que visitarán al Santos Laguna de Torreón
el próximo fin de semana en la sexta jornada del torneo. El equipo
fronterizo permanecerá concentrado en Cancún de cara a dicho
enfrentamiento.

Club Tijuana coach praised team, highlighted young players in win at
Atlante

CANCUN (Feb. 6, 2019) –Coach Oscar Pareja was blunt. He was quick to
praise his players for a 1-0 Copa MX Week 5 win against host Atlante FC
Wednesday.
“The players showed what they are made of,” Pareja said during his
post-match news conference. “They overcame a situation as a group.”

Club Tijuana played for most of the match with 10 men, overcoming the
disadvantage with a 79th minute goal by Eryc Castillo. The goal not only
gave Pareja’s team its first win in the cup tournament but also three
more points in the Group 1 standings. Club Tijuana is 1-1-1 with four
points. The win helps the Xoloitzcuintles in contention for a spot in
the knockout stage of the tournament that pairs LIGA MX teams with teams
of the second division.

Atlante, the second division side, remains at four points with a 1-2-1
record.

“The group overcame the adverse situation the red card created 30
minutes into the game,” Pareja said. “They resolved problems on the
field with plenty of attitude and soccer. They deserved to win this game
because of that. It has been a great effort and we are alive in the
Copa. It’s another step and the players deserve all the credit.”

Young goalkeeper Carlos Higuera made his pro debut, starting in this
match. Pareja also praised the goalkeeper for a handful of key saves.

“The young players had a great showing tonight,” Pareja said. “They
showed a great personality. It’s part of our job to give them that
confidence so that they can keep growing at this level.”

Club Tijuana will now return to LIGA MX action with a road match
against Santos Laguna Sunday Feb. 10 in Torreon. Pareja’s team will
remain in Cancun before heading north to Torreon.
