TIJUANA (Aug. 1, 2018) –Julian Velazquez is new to Club Tijuana. He
came here as an off-season signing this summer. But the Argentine
defender well knows what a game against Club Leon means for his new
team.

“I know about the rivalry,” Valazquez said during a news conference
Wednesday at Estadio Caliente. “I know about that rivalry that exists
and I know that it will be a great game on Sunday. And I hope that
Tijuana can do what it wants to do, which is create scoring chances. We
continue to work to be on that path.”

Club Tijuana is on a path to host its long-time rival Club Leon in a
LIGA MX Week 3 match at Estadio Caliente. It is a match that always
brings a different feel during the season. Facing the “Panzas Verdes”
means there is no room for error against an arch rival.

Velazquez wants to face that rival, focusing only on that upcoming
match, putting behind the loss against Tigres UANL last week.

“We had a difficult game last weekend but we are going to turn the
page,” Velazquez said. “This has just begun and we need to be strong at
home so that we can keep the points here. We are focused on doing our
work, our game and we focus on being vertical and scoring.”

Velazquez said he sees a Xoloitzcuintles team that can be fluid on
offesnse and stout on the defensive end against Leon. He said the team
must take advantage of opportunities and play the game play as set by
coach Diego Cocca. There might be more emphasis in completing the tasks
at hand with more focus. After all, it is another Leon week, another
extension of the rivalry between the teams that go back to the Mexican
second division.

Club Tijuana will continue to prepare to face Leon with a training
session Thursday morning at Estadio Caliente.
